Authorities find body of missing fern harvester in Elbe Hills swamp

ASHFORD, Wash. (AP) — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says authorities have found the body of a man who went missing last month while picking ferns near Ashford, Washington.

Chang Soo Kim was reported missing on May 25 after he got separated from his family, but extensive searches for him using planes, drones, helicopters and body-sniffing dogs had not been successful until now.

The sheriff's department says the 72-year-old Spanaway man's body was found in deep mud Saturday during a grid search of a swamp at the bottom of a valley in Elbe Hills.
