Car crashes into historic Pioneer Square bar and restaurant

SEATTLE -- A car crashed into Seattle's oldest bar early Thursday morning.

A driver somehow lost control and destroyed the front of Merchant's Cafe and Saloon on Yesler Way.

The restaurant's manager says nobody was inside at the time of the crash.

It's unclear how it happened or whether the driver was injured.

Merchant's opened around 1890 and has operated continuously ever since.
