Woman, 2 children injured in South Seattle shootings

SEATTLE -- Authorities say a woman and two children, including a 10-month-old baby, were injured in two separate shootings Monday in South Seattle.

Two of the victims were injured in a shooting that was reported just after 7 p.m.  at Pritchard Island Beach Park.

Seattle Police say witnesses reported that two groups of people started shooting at each other in the area. A woman and a 10-month-old baby who were in the back seat of a parked car were hit by gunfire. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but have since been upgraded to serious condition. Both remain in the ICU.

Another child, a 10-year-old girl, was also struck by gunfire during that shooting as her grandmother tried to drive away from the park, according to police. She has since been discharged from Harborview.

All three victims were innocent bystanders, police said.

Police said no suspects were in custody as of Tuesday morning.

Seattle Police say the incident is gang “involved,” but not related, because police don’t know if two gangs planned it out and came at each other, but they do believe people in the shooting are in gangs.
