Ex-preschool teacher gets prison for sexually abusing child

BELLINHAM, Wash. — A former Bellingham preschool teacher will spend the next two decades in prison for sexually abusing a now 24-year-old man for years.

The Bellingham Herald reports 41-year-old Ronald Guier was sentenced Monday in Whatcom County Superior Court after pleading guilty in March to child molestation and child incest.

Guier also entered an Alford plea for child rape. He was originally facing 10 felonies.

Documents say in 2007, police investigated a report that a then-12-year-old boy was sexually abused by Guier when he was 7. The case was later dropped.

Court documents say in April 2018, Guier confessed that he took advantage of the boy’s mental health vulnerabilities and had been sexually abusing the boy since he was 7. He said he had manipulated the boy into recanting his 2007 statement.

Guier was a paraeducator and preschool teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School until April 2018.
