Auburn man charged with murder in stepfather's death

AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — King County prosecutors say an Auburn man died last week from injuries he suffered when his stepson violently shoved him down a flight of stairs.

The Seattle Times reports 24-year-old Matthew Michaud has been charged with murder domestic violence in connection with the death of Danny Olinger. He remains jailed on $1 million bail. It wasn't known if Michaud has a lawyer.

Charging papers say Michaud has a significant history of mental health treatment and a long history of violence against his mother.

Documents say Michaud's mother told investigators that her son was upset on April 28 for an unknown reason. Documents say Michaud began assaulting her and shoved Olinger down the stairs when she called to him for help.

Documents say an officer used a Taser on Michaud to subdue and arrest him.

Olinger died April 29.
