Large tree branch knocks out power to 14,000 in South Seattle

SEATTLE -- More than 14,000 people lost power Friday morning in South Seattle, according to Seattle City Light.

Crews said a large tree branch had fallen onto a set of power lines. It was cleared by 9:00 a.m., crews said.

The outages are affected the Rainier Valley, Beacon Hill and Bryn Mawr-Skyway neighborhoods.

As of 9:30 a.m., only 400 customers were still without power.

Estimated restoration time was 11 a.m., officials said.

Traffic signals were also out in the area.

SDOT reminds drivers to treat dark signals as all-way stops.
