Man shoots sister, kills himself in broad daylight along crowded Edmonds waterfront

EDMONDS, Wash. -- A chaotic and tragic scene unfolded along the crowded Edmonds waterfront midday Saturday when a man shot his sister in the torso and then took his own life.

According to Edmonds Police Public Information Officer Josh McClure, officers responded about 11:45 a.m. to the parking lot of Arnies Restaurant in the 300 block of Admiral Way.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 50s dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A woman in her 40s had also been shot in the torso. She was given life-saving measures at the scene and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she's currently listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe the man and woman are siblings and had planned to meet at Arnies Restaurant for some type of family gathering. The woman was either inside or right outside her vehicle, with her husband and 10-12-year-old child still in the vehicle, when a brief confrontation happened and her brother shot her.
