One killed as dozens crash on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. -- Authorities said dozens of collisions, at least one of them fatal, forced the closure of Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass on Friday.

Trooper John Bryant with WSP said I-90 East at milepost 61 is essentially "one big collision scene." Roads were extremely icy, he said.

Earlier, police said three of the crashes involved semis. At least one person died.

Westbound I-90 reopened at Ellensburg around 12:30 p.m.

Eastbound lanes at North Bend remained closed until about 7:40 p.m. while crews cleared vehicles and cleaned up an oil spill.

The closure was from North Bend to Ellensburg.
