Woman shot, found on roadside in Tumwater

TUMWATER, Wash. — A 24-year-old woman was found dead alongside a road in Tumwater and police say they are investigating it as a homicide.

Officers discovered the body behind a Costco store at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday after they received a report of an unresponsive person lying beside the road, said Lt. Jen Kolb of the Tumwater police.

The first officers to arrive attempted lifesaving measures, but were unsuccessful.

Kolb says medics determined she had sustained a gunshot wound.

The woman is believed to have been a resident of Snohomish County.

He says the case is under investigation, and no suspect has been taken into custody.
