Suspect sent to hospital after officer-involved shooting in Kent

KENT, Wash. - A 33-year-old man was sent to the hospital after Kent police shot him Thursday afternoon.

Police said they were conducting an investigation of the man, who has felony warrants that include a Department of Correction escape warrant and a narcotics warrant.

They found him in a car near 14900 Kent Kangley Rd., but said he resisted arrest and tried to get away by ramming the police cars.

Police shot him twice in the process, then did CPR until medics arrived and took him to Harborview Medical Center.

The officer, and 18-year veteran, wasn't hurt. He was placed on administrative leave, which police said is standard procedure.

A third-party investigation was requested.
