Two people shot to death in Skyway, another round of violence in South King County

SEATTLE  --  A double homicide in a South Seattle community has many feeling concerned about safety.

Just before 5 p.m. Thursday night, the King County Sheriff’s Office says several people called 911 saying they heard multiple gunshots in Skyway near the intersection of 68th Ave South and 124th St.

“This is a busy road, so there’s a lot of cars going in and out of here throughout the day," said King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Ryan Abbott. "It goes to Renton Ave South and MLK. There’s a lot of cars, especially at that time, it’s a pretty busy time.”

Within two minutes, investigators say they arrived to find a black car parked on the side of the road off 68th Ave. --  the doors ajar and inside a man and a woman dead.

While investigators say they don’t believe this is a drive-by, they aren’t ruling it out.

Just two weeks ago and two miles away, a similar scene, after someone shot and killed 22-year-old, Amarah Riley as she drove South down Rainier Ave, just North of Renton Ave.

Detectives are still searching for answers in her murder.

In Skyway, investigators are working to identify the man and woman found dead inside the black car.

Dozens of people, claiming to be family and friends of the victims, looked on as investigators tried to piece together what happened.

“Detectives are going to work on trying to find out who was driving through this area. Hopefully, they called in to 911 and if they didn’t we urge them to please call us,” Abbott said.

At this point, investigators have no suspect description.

They do expect to be on scene all night and the road will likely be closed for several hours.
