Bellevue Police: Man accidentally shoots himself in the head

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Bellevue Police say they're investigating the accidental shooting of a 25-year-old man in a hotel room.

Just after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to Hotel 116, at 625 116th Ave NE where they found a man in a hotel room who had been shot in the head.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He died in the hospital Sunday.

Police said the man started playing around with a handgun while he was with a woman. The woman told him to stop, but the man told her not to worry because the gun was unloaded. At one point, he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

The gun fired and the woman ran to the hotel lobby to call 911.

The case is under investigation.
