2 suspects dead, 3 residents wounded in home-invasion stabbings in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say multiple stabbings during a home-invasion robbery in Yakima left two suspects dead and three residents wounded over the weekend.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the break-in occurred before 4 a.m. Sunday.
Police say two men, identified by Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins as 24-year-old Chase Rogers and 31-year-old Brian Perez, forced their way inside. Police say a fight broke out between the men, who were brothers-in-law, and the family members who live there.
Three of the residents were stabbed, as were both suspects. The residents were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hawkins says both Rogers and Perez died of one stab wound each.
Officers said Monday there didn't seem to be a connection between the suspects and residents.
Both deaths were ruled homicides, but it will be up county prosecutors to determine if they were justified, accidental or something else.
