MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash near the Little Mountain Park entrance in Mount Vernon Monday night, the Washington State Patrol said.

The two vehicle collision occurred on Little Mountain Road. It involved a silver passenger car and white SUV, the State Patrol said.

Authorities said the victims were inside a silver car which crossed the center line and was sideways when it was hit by a white car in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the white car only had minor injuries.

The Skagit County Medical Examiner is working to determine the identities of the victims and will notify the next of kin.
