Two dead in four-car wrong-way crash on Kent highway

KENT, Wash. -- Two men are dead, and six victims are in the hospital after a wrong-way crash on State Route 516 Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol says the two brothers who died were in a car driving east in the westbound lanes in Kent, between West Meeker Street and Washington Avenue North, around midnight. The men were identified as 35 and 39 years old and from Federal Way.

Troopers say it was a chaotic scene as rescue crews worked frantically to get victims out of the wreckage of four cars.

Among the other victims are a mother and 5-year-old child taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center and a couple traveling together. Three of the six were listed in critical condition Tuesday morning.

SR 516 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
