Body found in water at Everett believed to be that of man missing since Dec. 11

EVERETT, Wash. -- The body of a man that washed up at Dagmar's Landing and recovered by Everett police Tuesday is believed to be the body of 63-year-old Henry Groeneveld, of Snohomish, who has been missing since Dec. 11, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

Positive identification of the body is pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner, who will also determine cause and manner of death.

About 9:45 a.m., officials received a call that a body was floating in the water. It was quickly pulled to shore.

Henry Groeneveld was last seen around 9:30 a.m., Dec. 11, in the 400 block of Union Avenue in Snohomish, Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

Ireton said Groeneveld told his family members he was "going to the water" before leaving his home. Police searched areas around the Snohomish and Pilchuck rivers. Rescue helicopters and a marine unit were used in the search. Surveillance footage outside of Groeneveld's home has also been reviewed. But no sign of Groeneveld had been found.
