Driver arrested after deadly 3-car crash in Lake Stevens



LAKE STEVENS, Wash. -- Police arrested a driver after a deadly crash involving three cars Thursday morning near SR 9 in Lake Stevens.

One person died and two others were injured. Here's the account of what happened according to Lake Stevens police:

"From the initial investigation, the Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on 20th Street SE making a left turn onto northbound 91st Ave SE. The Chevrolet pickup was westbound on 20th Street. The Ford Mustang turned left in front of the Chevrolet causing both vehicles to impact the Ford Fusion, who was stopped on 91st Ave Se at 20th Street SE."

One of the passengers in the Mustang was killed instantly, police said. The victim will be identified by the county medical examiner.

The driver and another passenger in the same car were taken with minor injuries to a nearby hospital.

The driver, a 50-year-old man, was booked into Snohomish County Jail and is being held for investigation of vehicular homicide. Detectives believe drugs may have been a factor.

The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
