Snohomish man killed in tragic accident when tree falls on him

SNOHOMISH, Wash. -- A 61-year-old Snohomish man died in what appears to be a tragic accident when a tree fell on top of him.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, Timothy Howard's wife was out-of-town July 25. She became concerned when she arrived home around 9:00 p.m. and couldn't find her husband.

She began searching the property for him and called 911 for help. Soon after, she discovered a tree had fallen on top of him.

"She called 911 again to report that she had located Howard and that he was deceased," a sheriff's spokesperson wrote in a news release. "She remained at the location with him when deputies arrived on scene and for several hours until the Medical Examiner could remove Howard’s body."

One chainsaw was found on near Howard's body. Another was in a pickup truck nearby.

Deputies said Howard's wife was grateful for the help from first responders, including the Lake Roesiger Volunteer Fire Department, for their "incredible kindness and consideration."

Authorities said Howard suffered a traumatic brain injury to the head.
