Teen arrested for allegedly cutting Pierce College student while attempting carjacking (VIDEO)

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Police arrested a 16-year-old suspect who they said attempted a carjacking at Pierce College Thursday and cut a female student in the hand before fleeing.

A police spokesman said the student was leaving college in the parking lot when a man demanded that she get out of the car and stabbed her in the hand.

"The 28-year old female Pierce College student was leaving the school parking lot on the west side of the campus in her 2002 Ford Focus when a 16-year-old male Pierce College student ran towards her vehicle stopping her as she exited the parking lot," the Puyallup Police Department said. "The 16-year-old male suspect produced a knife and demanded the car from the female student. The female student initially tried to defend herself and was stabbed in the hand by the male suspect.

"The female victim got out of her car. The male suspect attempted to steal the car, but was not successful. The male suspect then fled the parking lot running to the northwest of the campus," police said.

A law enforcement helicopter located the suspect hiding under a log in the woods.

The school was placed on lockdown during the search.

Police said the female victim was treated at the scene by Central Pierce Fire and Rescue.

The suspect "will be booked into Remann Hall for several juvenile felony charges."
