CAPTURED — Auburn Police arrested wanted sex offender Bruce Brown early Friday morning after getting a tip from a Washington’s Most Wanted viewer that he was at the Rodeway Inn on 15th St NE.  He had a warrant for his arrest in Pierce County for escaping community custody after convictions for two counts of Rape of a Child 1st Degree.  Deputies were searching for him because he had cut off his GPS tracker.

Auburn PD Officer M. Wilkinson spotted Brown driving out of the parking lot in a tan colored 1993 Chrysler Concorde at 2:48 am. He activated his emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop.  Brown drove onto Hwy 167 Southbound where he accelerated to speeds of 100 mph.

He exited at the 8th St E and Jovita Blvd E off ramp. Officer Wilkinson says Brown then drove on West Valley Hwy at speeds of 70 mph in a 25 mph posted zone. That section is a 2 lane road with several blind corners. Brown drove into oncoming traffic multiple times before Auburn Sgt. Betz interceded in the 500 block of West Valley Hwy N. and performed a PIT maneuver on his vehicle, spinning it around and stopping it.

Brown was taken into custody for Attempting to Elude Police and for his Pierce County warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He had a first appearance in court on Saturday. The judge set bail at $100,000. He is scheduled for a second appearance on January 25. Brown is WMW Capture #845.

A serious warning for parents — and all of the public in Pierce County: Convicted child rapist, Bruce Brown, is in the wind right now after cutting off his GPS tracking bracelet.

“The only reason why a sex offender would cut off his bracelet is because he’s somewhere he shouldn’t be, so we believe he’s probably somewhere he’s not supposed to be and where that is probably around children,” said Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer. “His victims were young girls, so we want to make sure we get him found, hold him accountable and make sure he’s not living amongst other possible victims.”

Brown is wanted in Pierce County for failing to register as a sex offender and by the Department of Corrections for Escape.

He has multiple child rape convictions.

He’s 31 years olds, 6’2” and weighs 240 pounds.

He has unique-looking lines going through his eyebrows that are either shaved into them or just their natural look.

If you know where he’s hiding — again, very possibly amongst kids he’s looking to prey on — submit the information via the P3 Tips App to Crime Stoppers or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

You could be in line for up to a $1,000 cash reward if your information leads to his arrest.
