Two boys, ages 12 and 14, killed in five-vehicle crash near Wenatchee

WENATCHEE, Wash. -- A 14-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy, apparent brothers, were killed and a woman believed to be their mother was seriously injured in a five-vehicle crash Monday morning near Wenatchee.

According to Washington State Patrol, four cars and one semi were involved in the crash.

The State Patrol said a Honda Odyssey van driven by Anne Guerrero, 44, of Quincy, was traveling westbound on State Route 28 when it crossed over the line and entered the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a Kenworth semi. The impact sent the vehicle back into the westbound lane, where it was struck by an Isuzu.

Two other cars that had been behind the semi tried to avoid the collision and ended up going into a ditch.

Guerrero was seriously injured, the State Patrol said. Killed in her vehicle were Adam Guerrero, 12, of Quincy, and Alec Guerrero, 14, of Quincy.

In addition to the van driver, two other drivers were injured, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol said the van was traveling too fast before the accident. Charges are pending.

Both directions of SR 28 were closed at about six miles east of Wenatchee. The road reopened around 2:30 p.m.

Moore first tweeted about the deadly crash around 8:30 a.m.
