Deputies identify bicyclist who died after being hit by dump truck in Graham

GRAHAM, Wash. -- A 74-year-old bicyclist who died after being struck by a dump truck has been identified.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says John Chambers was pedaling a mountain bike on Kapowsin Highway near Graham when he was struck by a truck traveling in the same direction. It happened just before noon Wednesday.

Officials said Chambers was often seen riding his bike in the area. He lived in a nearby group home.

Troyer tells the News Tribune that the driver stopped after the collision and is cooperating with investigators.
