Court docs: 2 bystanders ordered suspect to the ground after deadly shooting on bus in Renton

SEATTLE -- A 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting on a Metro bus in last week in Renton.

Faisal Adan of Kent was also charged Friday with second-degree assault for pointing the revolver at the bus driver and with unlawful possession of a firearm.

The charges say 27-year-old Ahmed Sheikah was shot four times and died Thursday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Charging documents released Monday give the following account:

Adan was chatting with Sheikah on the bus when Adan suddenly shot Sheikah, whom he didn't know, repeatedly.

Adan admitted to officers that he used drugs and alcohol before he got on the bus. he stood up and shot Ahmed four times before running to the front of the bus, pointing the gun at the driver and demanding to be let off.

The driver then let Adan off, shut the door and drove several blocks to protect the other passengers. There were about 20 people on the bus at the time.

Adan was arrested shortly afterward by Renton police.

Two bystanders on the street told investigators Adan admitted to them he was the one cops were looking for. One of the witnesses told Adan to sit down and put his hands up in the air. An officer arrived just seconds later and took him into custody.

Three witnesses from the bus positively identified Adan as the shooter.

Adan told investigators he thought the victim was trying to kill him. He was not supposed to have a gun because of a felony conviction in King County.

Adan is being held without bail because of his "utter disregard for human life and his troubling criminal history." He also has convictions for robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, theft and escape.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 15.
