Spokane congresswoman named vice-chair of Trump transition team

SPOKANE - Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a congresswoman from Spokane, was named to President-elect Donald Trump's transition team on Tuesday.

McMorris Rodgers will serve as vice-chair on the team.

McMorris Rodgers is the highest-ranking Republican woman in Congress, and the fourth-highest-ranking Republican in the House.

“The American people sent a message with this election: it is time to shake up the status quo," McMorris Rodgers said in a statement. "I’m proud to work alongside Donald Trump and Mike Pence as they lead the fight to restore the people’s voice in our government.”

McMorris Rodgers, a former state legislator, has represented the fifth district since 2005.
