Rash of drive-by shootings target cars across Tacoma, police say

TACOMA  --  A rash of drive by shootings in Tacoma have neighbors concerned not just for the cars, but their safety too.

Kim Dezelak says her car got hit too Sunday night near the Hilltop neighborhood.

“I went to go unlock my car and my window looked funky. So, I slid my hand across it and a piece of glass got in my hand,” says Kim

That’s when she discovered her husband, Markus, had a shattered window on his car, too.

Tacoma Police say even though it appears to be a BB gun, these are still considered drive by shootings. Investigators say it’s happening all over the city: 7 reports of windows shot out were filed just over the weekend.

While several people claiming to be victims have taken to social media to complain, Tacoma police say that doesn’t do anyone any good unless you file a formal police report either on the phone or online.

With no clear cut description and very little information to go on investigators have a hard time catching the suspect, so it’s extremely important to report any incidents like this to police.

When you file a police report, investigators can document it and then follow up on it.  Anyone with information on these BB gun shootings, the suspect or the car, should call Tacoma police or call an anonymous tip into:
