Passenger shot on King County Metro bus in Renton

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a King County Metro Transit bus passenger was shot and one person was taken into custody in the Seattle suburb of Renton.

King County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cindi West says the 27-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday night at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

West says the victim and suspect were talking on the bus Tuesday afternoon when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim. West says the suspect then walked to the front of the bus, pointed the gun at the driver and told him to stop the bus. The suspect exited the bus and fled, West says.

Renton police apprehended the suspect a short time later. Police found a gun nearby but don't know yet it if it's connected to the shooting.

The Seattle Times reports that Metro spokesman Scott Gutierrez said other passengers were on the bus at the time and that the driver was "shaken up" but not injured.
