Forecast: Heavy rain Sunday afternoon and evening

It's a super soaker out there and with all the rain falling over the last couple of days the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for our area.  The high rain totals have increased the threat of landslides across Western Washington.  Plus, a Flood Watch in effect through this afternoon as well.   Some southwest Sound rivers, in Grays, Lewis & Thurston Counties are flooding but it’s expected to be minor.  Also look for the winds to pick up along the southwest coast throughout the day with breezy conditions for Seattle & Tacoma.  Highs in the low 50s.

If you're planning to cross the passes this weekend. Saturday is the better day with snow levels sitting about 4,500 feet, but come Saturday night that drops to 2,500 feet and will hover there into the work week. So if you are returning from the 109th Apple Cup expect pass travel to be tough at times. Drive safe!

Sunday: the metro area gets a little breezy again.  Some sun breaks as the showers taper off, but the rain returns late afternoon/early evening with heavy rain at times.  Highs in the low 50s with overnights in the mid-40s.

Monday:, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, but mainly dry for the morning commute.  The rest of the day looks pretty dry too.  Highs in the upper 40s with overnights sitting about 40 degrees.

Tuesday: mostly cloudy for the morning hours, but as the day wears on expect the clouds to thicken up and the threat of rain returns Tuesday night.  Highs near 50 with lows in the lower 40s.

Wednesday:  Breezy and wet.  Showers heavy at times with winds relaxing later in the day.  High near 48 with overnights dropping into the upper 30s.

Thursday & Friday: we start to dry out a bit with mostly cloudy skies and some much-needed sun breaks throughout both days. Just a slight chance of showers may sneak back into the forecast.  Highs in the mid-40s with lows in the mid-30s.

Enjoy the weekend all!
