2 people escape with minor injuries after tree falls on car in Bothell



BOTHELL, Wash. -- Two people escaped with only minor injuries after a tree fell on top of their car Sunday morning, Bothell police said.

It happened at 10:55 a.m. on 164 Place.

Officer Robert Buendia said the large tree fell on top of the car as it was traveling westbound on the road.

The driver and passenger were briefly trapped inside. They were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Officer Buendia said, "It was their lucky day."

He also thanked Bothell Fire and Puget Sound Energy for their quick response.

164 Place will remain closed until 4 p.m. as crews remove the tree. Power is also out for several homes and businesses. Crews hope to have it restored by 3 p.m.
