Fallen Officers Food Drive: Helping the hungry to keep Lakewood Police officers memory alive

LAKEWOOD -- November 29th marks  seven years since the four Lakewood Police officers were killed and once again this year, the department is holding a food drive in their memory.

From November 28th - December 2nd,  officers and volunteers will be accepting donations and raising money to make sure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

"All the proceeds and the food go to benefit Pierce County's Emergency Food Network that's actually based here in Lakewood, says Lakewood Chief Mike Zaro. "The base of it is that there's such a need for this kind of assistance. Everybody needs food.  That's the one thing that crosses all boundaries and all lines is that it's a basic need that we want to be able to help provide."
