Man fleeing police on foot struck by cars on I-5, killed

FIFE, Wash. -- A person running from Fife police was killed after running onto the freeway and being struck by a car.

The southbound lanes of I-5 in Fife were briefly closed Friday morning after the incident.

Fife police said they received a call about an unwanted man at a hotel near Pacific Highway and Port of Tacoma Rd. When they ran the suspect's name, it came back with a warrant for his arrest.

The suspect took off toward the freeway and police chased after him. Police said the suspect jumped a fence, ran onto I-5 and was hit by at least one car.
