Ways to help families in need this holiday season

SEATTLE -- This time of year can be stressful for all of us, but for some families, it's even more challenging. Here, we connect you with organizations throughout the Puget Sound area to help those in need this holiday season (and all year round).

Please note: There are so many wonderful organizations out there, and this is just a small sample. Take the time to find one that is meaningful to you, and it can be fun to turn it into a tradition with your family!

Want to add an organization not on the list? Email us: tips@q13fox.com .

Northwest Harvest: 67 cents can feed a nutritious meal to a family of three.

Hopelink: Donate food, hygiene items, clothing and more.

Goodwill: A link that helps you find the site nearest you to donate items.

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission: A donation of $19.20 can provide a Thanksgiving meal to ten people.

Tacoma Rescue Mission: Click on "How You Can Help" for a list of ideas, from monetary donations to hosting food drives.

Everett Gospel Mission: Several ways to get involved in Snohomish County.

Olympia Salvation Army: Much like the Gospel Missions and Goodwill mentioned above, this is just one of several branches of Salvation Army across the Puget Sound region.

Don't forget pets need food too! Many shelters accept food and pet supply donations (as well as monetary donations). Seattle Humane, for example, has a "Wish List" set up through Amazon. Click on the link for details.

Mary's Place empowers homeless women and children (and families) in Seattle. Easy to donate through their Amazon wish list.
