WEST SEATTLE -- An experienced windsurfer had to be pulled from the waves at Alki Beach on Saturday.

Q13 News' Nadia Crow spoke with the man beforehand. He said he's been windsurfing for 30 years and the waves are perfect.

A windstorm bearing remnants of a Pacific typhoon is reaching the Seattle area after leaving a swath of downed trees and power lines in Oregon and southwest Washington.

The National Weather Service said gusts around Seattle would probably top out at about 50 mph, weaker than initially feared, but still strong enough to do some damage.
