Police: Kent detectives shoot, wound man while trying to serve warrant at house



KENT, Wash. -- Police detectives trying to serve a warrant at a house in Kent shot and wounded the man they were seeking when he came to the door holding a handgun, police said.

Kent Police Cmdr. Jarod Kasner said the shooting took place at about 3 p.m.  in the 400 block of Jason Avenue N.

Three detectives went to a house to serve a warrant on a 38-year-old man in regard to a suspicious death case. When the man came to  the door holding a handgun, the detectives opened fire, striking him a number of times.

He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center. His condition was not immediately released.

No officers were hurt.
