Lynnwood High teacher arrested for sexual misconduct with a student

BOTHELL, Wash. -- A Lynnwood High School teacher has been arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her male students, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives arrested the 25-year-old teacher Wednesday morning for 1st-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

The teacher's name has not been publically released.

Authorities say the victim is currently a 17-year-old male. He was 16 years old when the alleged crimes occurred.

Allegations about the crimes were brought to the Edmonds School District, who immediately contacted the school resource officer, a sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy reported the allegations to the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, which investigates crimes against children.  During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect and victim developed a relationship which, over time, became sexual.

The school district has been extremely cooperative with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

The suspect has been booked into the Snohomish County jail and the investigation continues.
