Even after decimating Ducks, Huskies still at No. 5 in poll

SEATTLE - As satisfying as it may have been for the Washington Huskies to hand an epic beat down to one of their fiercest rivals, it meant very little in the national polls.

The Huskies remained at No. 5 when the AP released its sportswriters' poll on Monday morning - the same spot they were in last week.

Washington received 1,226 total votes, and no first place votes. The No. 4 team, Michigan, got 1,339 votes, including one for first place.

The Huskies routed the Ducks on Saturday night, 70-21, ringing up the most points in the long history of the rivalry. Oregon had beaten the Huskies the last 12 times the teams played.

The win left many in the national media speculating that Washington might be headed for the College Football Playoff.

The Huskies have a bye this weekend, then play host to the Oregon State Beavers on Oct. 22. Game time has yet to be determined.
