MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. — A body found in Mountlake Terrace’s Lake Ballinger last Wednesday was identified Monday as that of a 24-year-old man from Edmonds.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office said the deceased was Sylvio Y. Kasongo.

“The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation,” the Mountlake Terrace Police Department said.

Kasongo’s body was found at about 8:45 a.m. last Wednesday near the boat ramp in the 23500 block of Lakeview Drive.  The body had no identification or obvious signs of trauma, police said, adding that the body appeared to have been in the water “for some time.”

Police described him at the time as a black male, aged 15 to 25, who was wearing a black hoodie, several shirts, gray sweat pants and black high-top tennis shoes.
