'Creepy man' approaching women isn't doing anything illegal, police say

EVERETT, Wash. – Two women have come forward with similar stories about a man they say has terrorized them, trying repeatedly to get them into his car.

The first report happened Tuesday near Deception Pass.  The Island County Sheriff’s Office confirms a woman reported being approached multiple times by a man in a gray 2014 Honda Accord. The driver was described as a white male in his 50s with graying white/brown hair.

The woman said he followed her, demanding she get in his car.

She posted her experience to Facebook, and it was seen by an Everett woman who said the same thing happened to her. She said the incident took place in Everett in August. She said a man pulled up behind her in a similar looking vehicle, and repeatedly tried to get her to go with him.

Both women have filed police reports.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office have identified the man from the Deception Pass incident, based on photos the victim took on her cell phone.

It released this statement to Q13 News:

“This event while obviously concerning does not rise to the level of a violation of Washington State law at this time.  The male involved has been tentatively identified and is not currently wanted by law enforcement; however, we are continuing to look into this event.”
