High wind warning issued Thursday night for Grays Harbor

SEATTLE - The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a high wind warning for the Central Coast (Grays Harbor County), from 8 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday morning, with sustained winds forecast along the North and Central Coast to be 25-45 mph, gusting to 45-50 mph.

Associated with the winds will be heavy rain tonight.

The National Weather Service says the forecast indicates South, Southeast winds at 20-25 mph before midnight and shifting to Southwest winds after midnight with sustained winds 25-30 mph. Wind gusts could reach 45-50 mph in some areas along the coast.

Be aware most trees have full canopies of leaves making this wind event very significant. Be alert for downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. Power outages could occur at any time. DO NOT attempt to move power lines or trim tree limbs tangled with power lines.

Be extremely alert while driving tonight during periods of heavy rain. Rain may pool along edges of roadways and also reduce visibility significantly, creating hazardous driving conditions.
