Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan is the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after the Hawks’ dominant 27-17 win Sunday against the New York Jets.

Ryan had five punts in that game, pinning the Jets back behind their own 15-yard line four times (three of those were inside the 10)!

“It was a good game,” Ryan said Monday on the Kickin It With Jon & Greg podcast, according to “It was fun. It was a lot of fun. This is my 11th year in the NFL and I’ve never played the New York Jets in New York before. One of the last teams I haven’t played on the road.”

Ryan averaged 40.6 yards/punt — none of his punts were returned by the Jets.

“Special teams followed through, we had great kicks by Jon and the punting game was really exceptional for field position,” said head coach Pete Carroll.

Ryan is averaging 39.0 yards/punt so far this season.
