Pierce County sheriff's deputies are done clowning around with bogus calls

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. – The Pierce County sheriff’s department is done clowning around.

Spokesman Ed Troyer said deputies will stop responding to clown-related calls, except in cases where there’s a specific threat or a report of a crime being committed.

Troyer said the deputies responded to at least five reports that turned out to be bogus threatening posts on social media from an Instagram account based in New York.

The account targets area schools and features scary clowns.
