Police: Driver tries to hit teen with car, then punches him in face

POCATELLO, Idaho -- A 47-year-old driver turned himself in after trying to hit a teenage pedestrian with his car, police said. He also admitted to getting out of his car and punching the boy in the face.

Jeffrey David Hill approached Pocatello police around 4 p.m. Wednesday after he crashed his car into a parked car and punched the high schooler, police said. The Pocatello man was arrested for felony aggravated assault.

Hill told police that he became frustrated at a student who was walking slowly through a crosswalk. Hill said the boy flipped him off, and that's when he tried to hit him with his car.

Hill missed the teen and crashed into a parked car.

Hill and witnesses told police he then got out and hit the boy in the face.

Police say Hill later turned himself into the police and was arrested at the police station.

Hill is being held in the Bannock County Detention Center on bond until he makes his first court appearance this afternoon.
