WSP troopers pulled over 205 people in four hours Wednesday; more patrols today

TACOMA -- Washingon State troopers pulled over 205 people in a two miles stretch on I-5 Wednesday, according to a tweet from the Washington State Patrol. The additional citations and police presence is part of a “High Visibility Enforcement Effort.”

WSP says 10+ motorcycle officers “swarmed” Northbound and Southbound I-5 between Portland Avenue East and South 56th Street for four hours Wednesday. They plan on doing it again on Thursday.

"By 'swarm' we mean troopers stopped every car they could that wasn’t obeying the law out on the small stretch of freeway," reads a police blog about the effort.

According to statistics provided by WSP, the two-mile stretch of freeway has one of the highest crash rates in the area.

Extra patrols in Tacoma again today

Troopers are reminding drivers as always to remain vigilant when behind the wheel and watch for additional motorcycle troopers in the area for the next couple of days.
