Cops: Suspect shot after bank robbery reported in Auburn

AUBURN, Wash. -- A bank robbery suspect is being treated by medics after exchanging gunfire with police Wednesday in Auburn.

Auburn police said they received the report of a bank robbery at the Key Bank location at 1 E. Main St. in Auburn.

According to police, an officer came into contact with the suspect shortly after noon.

Commander Steve Stocker said it appears the suspect fired at least one round at the officer before the officer returned fire. Stocker said the suspect continued running and there may have been more gunfire before the suspect went down.

The unidentified suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Police said more information would be released later this afternoon from Auburn Police Department headquarters.
