Second multi-vehicle accident on Hwy 101 within 12 hours

PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- Authorities are investigating a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Port Angeles. This accident was within two miles from the wreck that killed reality star Gabe Rygaard Friday morning.

Washington State Police say a 77-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Suburban suffered a medical emergency while near the Elwha Bridge and crossed into the oncoming lanes striking a pickup truck.

The driver of the Suburban and the couple in the pickup were injured and needed to be cut from their vehicles using the jaws-of-life.

All three victims were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

WSP said the accident happened about 8:25 p.m. Friday.  The Highway was closed for approximately two hours during the rescue efforts.

No charges have been filed at this time.
