DuPont mayor appears to have change of heart about Seahawks rally

DUPONT, Wash. -- Mayor Mike Courts had a change of heart Tuesday night after he canceled a Seahawks rally before last Sunday's game.

Courts canceled the rally because he said he thought there were indications the players had a deliberate plan to disrespect the flag and the national anthem before the game. He took responsibility for the cancellation.

But after seeing the team's show of unity -- linking arms on the field -- Courts changed his mind about holding a rally.

During a DuPont City Council meeting Tuesday night, one resident said he doesn't feel pep rallies should be held at all by a government institution.

Talks are underway, but there's no word yet whether a Seahawks rally will be held in DuPont this week before next Sunday's game against the Rams in Los Angeles.
