Watch: Injured hiker rescued after falling off cliff in Coos Bay

NORTH BEND, Ore. — A 20-year-old hiker is expected to be OK after falling from a cliff in Sunset Bay in Charleston, Oregon Friday evening.

A Coast Guard aircrew along with Coos Bay Fire and Rescue personnel rescued the hiker using an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. He was transported to a Bay Area Hospital in stable condition.

"We remind those who enjoy the scenery along the Oregon Coast to stay on the trail and avoid slippery areas that can lead to dangerous falls," said Petty Officer 3rd Class Priscilla Quiroz, operations specialist, Sector North Bend.

The hiker was delivered to the hospital at 6:04 p.m., about an hour and a half after first responders got the emergency call.
