Zetron’s ‘Shoot for the Stars’ golf tournament raises $25K for Behind the Badge Foundation

NEWCASTLE -- Zetron’s 6TH Annual Shoot for the Stars tournament at The Golf Club at Newcastle to benefit the Behind the Badge Foundation continues to grow in popularity.

Hundreds of members of law enforcement and other first responders joined Seattle Sonics legend Slick Watts and former Seahawks Nesby Glasgow and Alonzo Mitz to raise more than $25,000 for the non-profit organization that helps the families of fallen officers.

"We really appreciate how hard their jobs are and it's an opportunity for them, number one, to get a day away from the office. It's a beautiful venue out here at Newcastle but more importantly, they get a chance to step away and contribute to a charity that obviously means a lot to them,” said Brent Dippie, President of Zetron, Inc.

Redmond based Zetron makes equipment that goes into 911 dispatch centers.

The company started the tournament to show their appreciation for all members of law enforcement.

Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole participated for the first time.  “It means a great deal for me to be here today. Behind the Badge is a wonderful charity. I’m just delighted to be among these great people,” said Chief O’Toole.

Susan York and Sheri Mellquest have served as organizers since the tournament’s debut in 2011, helping to raise more than $100,000 for the foundation.
