MONROE — A 2-car crash Sunday afternoon blocked both directions of US Route 2 between Snohomish and Monroe for over an hour.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the crash near Roosevelt Road at Milepost 12.

One person suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, troopers said. They were taken to Providence Hospital in Everett.

The road reopened to one lane around 5 p.m, with traffic alternating between the opening lane.

US 2 is a popular traffic route, with increased volumes expected over the holiday weekend.
