Oregon county won't charge man for brother's death

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) _ An Oregon district attorney's office says it won't file charges against a man who apparently shot and killed his brother.

The Daily Courier reports (http://bit.ly/2bHUOzH ) that Josephine County District Attorney Lisa Turner said Thursday that the state doesn't believe it can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Wayne Hansen wasn't acting in self-defense when he shot his brother.

Douglas Hansen of Hugo died after the March shooting. Turner says the case began when Wayne Hansen called 911 to say he shot his brother in the chest. Police say Wayne Hansen tol them his brother had been trying to strangle him.

Wayne Hansen was taken to the hospital for chest pains after the shooting.
