Elderly couple found dead in suspected murder-suicide in Pierce County

SPANAWAY, Wash. — Detectives in Pierce County are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving an elderly couple.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called around 11:10 a.m. to a home in the 2200 block of 145th St E in the Spanaway-Parkland area.

Authorities said both people, a 75-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, suffered gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Investigators remained at the scene Friday afternoon. They said the male is the suspect in the case and no others suspects are being sought.

Deputies believe the female victim suffered from Alzheimer’s/dementia.

The investigation is ongoing.
